Dancing their way to success at school

DOZENS of pupils put on their dancing shoes for a school competition.

Participants from Years 9 to 13 took part in the annual dance competition for the Blyth and Bedlington School Sport Programme.

The students were invited to enter solo, duet and group dances covering three styles of dance – theatre, contemporary and urban.

Each piece was given a mark out of 30 by the three judges, with marks out of ten given in three areas – performance, interpretation of music and choreography.

The winners of each category won a certificate for their efforts while the school with the highest scores from their top three dances won the dance trophy, with Bedlington’s St Benet Biscop RC High School taking the honours.

Others schools taking part in the event at The Blyth School Community College were Bede Academy North and the host school.
