Deadline approaches for county’s energy switch scheme

RESIDENTS in south east Northumberland who want to save money on their energy bills have until next Monday to register in the second phase of an energy switch scheme.

In the first phase Northumberland achieved more sign-ups than any of the other local authority areas when over 7,000 people registered and were offered an average saving of £122 per annum.

The scheme is being run in partnership with 11 other councils – making it the biggest local authority led collective switching scheme in the UK.

To register for the free scheme, visit and provide your contact details, the name of your supplier and details of your current energy usage and tariff.

Once all details are collected an auction takes place and the winning supplier will send a personal offer which you can decide whether to accept or not.

For anyone without internet access, call 0845 600 6400 or email to sign up.
