The ball at the home of Newcastle Falcons, Kingston Park, included a three-course meal, live singer, guitarist, starlight dance floor with a DJ and a photobooth.

The raffle brought in £600 and a Facebook auction made over £1,500.

Melanie suffers from a severe form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and a severe case of craniocervical instability (CCI). At the moment, she is completely bed-bound.

She said: “It was an amazing night and we made £6,440 in total, which included being handed £500 that someone who lived locally donated anonymously.

“I would like to thank all the local businesses that helped with the event, auction and/or raffle.”

The main companies that supported her are as follows: Tyne Events, CooCooDoLove, Four Star Events, Paper Memories, Shiremoor Press, Balloon Bedlam (+ KT weddings, parties, events and venue decoration specialist), Wedding Photographer Newcastle, DJ Shaz, love lettered, Sarah & Therese Acoustic Duet and Carpet Studio.
