A young football star who has caught the eye of a Premier League side’s girls’ squad has signed for her local team after proving she can mix it with the boys.
Seven-year-old football-mad Destiny Ditchburn has just signed for next season’s Blyth Town Boys Whites Under 8s team.
She is the only girl on the team of boys, and also impressed during a trial for the club’s U10 girls’ team, where she has also been given a place.
Destiny’s mum said her daughter lives for football and she can be found outside every night after school, practising on the sports field.
She was also given the opportunity of training with the West Ham girls’ squad at Barking in London.
Destiny, a pupil at Malvins Close Primary Academy, amazed the coaches with her performance, and they said she has the potential to go all the way.
And she clearly made an impression as the family has received confirmation that Destiny can train from February next year for a place in the U10 squad.
