A Northumberland sailor has been told he will now face trial in India, despite the charges against him being dropped last year.
Nick Dunn, from Ashington, was arrested along with five other Britons in 2013, when they were accused of illegally possessing weapons while working on a ship monitoring pirates.
The charges were dropped last year, but the authorities in India refused to return the passports and allow the men to return home.
And now, hope of Nick, 28, returning home soon has been dashed, as the Indian Supreme Court has decided the men have a case to answer.
Nick’s sister Lisa said: “We really thought it was coming to end.”
The sailors’ case was debated in Parliament yesterday by Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery.
