Dog rescue in Seaton Sluice

Humber Coastguards launched an animal rescue operation on Thursday when a dogged was trapped in Seaton Sluice.

The seven-year-old Alaskan Malmut called Kai became trapped on a ledge at Collywell Bay.

Blyth Coastguard Team and Tynemouth Volunteer Lifebrigade were both called to the scene to help the dog which was trapped by the incoming tide.

After several unsuccessful attempts to get the dog to safety, rescue officers Sid Hogg and Dan Reid were able to get onto the ledge and physically life the dog to safety, not before he gave Sid a nasty bite which required hospital attention.
