DVD looks at the history of Blyth

A DVD looking at the history of Blyth is now available to buy.

A Sentimental Journey put together by the Six Townships Community History Group offers 60 minutes of footage from the old Blyth market, living conditions in the 1950s, clips from Bates Colliery and the Miners Picnic.

Historian John Dawson said: “It’s a great DVD, you get to see clips of Blyth beach where families are having days out and putting the tents up that you used to be able to hire.

“I’m sure that when people watch it they will either see themselves or see people they know and how the times have changed.”

The DVD is available from www.sixtmedia.org.uk for £5.49.
