Students’ success has been rewarded at an annual ceremony.

Pupils from Bedlingtonshire Community High School were honoured for attendance, effort, progress and attainment during the previous school year.

Each department recognised youngsters who had excelled, with many returning from university to collect their prizes.

The Alistair Aitken Award, in memory of a former teacher who died while attempting a mountain rescue, was given to Charlene Brown, who overcame difficulties to achieve excellent GCSE results.

Guest speaker was Steve Furnell, from Metro Radio.

Assistant headteacher Jamie Bell said: “We are very proud of all the students.”
