Eleven dog owners get on the spot fines

Northumberland County Council says its push to penalise irresponsible dog owners is beginning to make an impact.

In one week 11 fines were issued for dog control offences.

People who fail to pick up after their dogs face an on-the-spot fine of £75.

They have 14 days to pay and if they don’t then the council will prosecute and they could face up to a maximum of £1,000 fine.

The early morning and late evening stings have been executed on some areas identified as problem black-spots, and fines have been handed out in several locations including Ashington, Blyth, Cambois, Newbiggin, and Seaton Sluice.
