Entries sought for first bloggers award

Nominations are still being sought for the first ever north east bloggers award.

The North East Bloggers Awards if open for blogs based in the north east and has been created by creative communications agency OPR.

The award ceremony, which will feature 11 different categories, will take place at Lane7, on St James’ Boulevard, on Wednesday, October 22, from 7.30pm.

OPR managing director Kari Owers said: “We felt it was time to celebrate our region’s best bloggers and give them some recognition.

“We are delighted to have Lane7 as our event venue, its basement, The Ball Room, is such a cool hangout space and should make for a really different style of awards ceremony to the normal sit down black tie affair.

“The evening will be a fun packed evening of inspiration, networking and a celebration of the region’s best bloggers – there will even be a chance to get a bit of tin pin bowling practice.”

Nominations have flooded in for the awards whose categories include, food, sports, beauty, lifestyle, parenting, business, style, travel, student, best newcomer and will culminate in a special judges’ award for the North East Blogger of the Year.

Events manager at Lane7, Chrissie Denton, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to host the inaugural North East Blogger Awards.

“These individuals carry an increasingly influential role in shaping the diverse cultural and economic landscape here in the north east and its right their contributions to the region are recognised.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone into The Ball Room for what we know will be an awards night with a difference.”
