Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery is inviting entries for an annual competition organised in the House of Commons pitting the best in the country against each other.

He will then put forward the establishment with the most votes to represent the constituency in the light-hearted contest to find the best curry house in the country.

The winner will receive the Tiffin Cup from House of Commons speaker Mr John Bercow.

Any proceeds from the event will be divided between World Vision and Water Aid.

The best ten regional restaurants will all be invited to take part in a cook-off at Bellamy’s Restaurant in London’s Mayfair.

Mr Lavery is inviting constituents to nominate their Wansbeck favourite by contacting him at his office at 7 Esther Court, Ashington, or emailing him at www.ianlavery.org.uk

Nominations must reach him by 5pm on Wednesday, April 13.

Last year, Ashianna’s in Bedlington received the most votes in the Wansbeck constituency.

Mr Lavery said: “It’s a bit of fun but at the same time a great chance to prove that Wansbeck’s restaurants can compete with the best in the country.”
