£9,000 grant for heritage centre group

THE charity in charge of Newbiggin’s new heritage centre is celebrating after landing a grant of more than £9,000.

Newbiggin Heritage Partnership has been given £9,483 by the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme to make environmental improvements to the land around the centre.

Volunteer Stephen Humphrey said: “The funding is a big help.

“The Awards for All programme does some great work in the area.

“The money will be a fantastic boost for us and will finish the centre off nicely.”

James Turner, the Big Lottery Fund’s head of region for the north east, said: “Newbiggin Heritage Partnership is just one of 33 groups across the region that are benefiting from funding from the Awards for All programme, all of which will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of those who live in them.”
