EUROPE: '˜Nice grants' are at stake
Would you believe it '“ that nice EU is still inviting companies in the North East to apply for funds.
Even though so many of our politicians, including MPs in Northumberland, really want a hard Brexit, it seems we still don’t mind accepting EU money.
There is a free event at the Centre for Life in Newcastle on October 10 to explain how businesses might best apply to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
On Saturday, Angels for Europe was campaigning in Blyth, an area which has received a vast amount of support from the EU.
In just one year, Blyth’s Commissioners Quay secured £2,980,000 from the ERDF, NAREC received £990,000 and the Harbour Commission benefited by £340,000.
In that same year, Blyth shared in North East grants in excess of £2,650,000.
Is the pro-Brexit government, or its possible replacement, guaranteeing to continue such a programme?
Or should we just Remain in the EU so that we may continue to receive these nice grants?
