EVENTS: Good people, great spirit

May we give a big thank-you to the Traders’ Association of Newbiggin by the Sea, which organised a Christmas afternoon teatime treat for us golden oldies.

It was excellent all around, looking after the elderly of the community.

May we mention particularly Enid and her merry band of lady helpers and gentlemen who cooked, presented, washed up, gave us numerous cups of tea and made sure of our comfort.

You all went that extra mile this Christmas.

Where else would you find so thoroughly decent people who look after and think to put something like this on for the elderly folk?

It’s called good people and an excellent community spirit.

This is from a person who appreciates that kind of kindness and thoughtfulness.

We all loved the Christmas tea party that was held at St Bartholomew’s Church, and thank you to the vicar too.

May we also give thanks to the president and committee of Newbiggin Women’s Institute for putting on such a good Christmas social event this year.

Everything was tip-top, from the food and camaraderie to the magician who blinded us with his tricks – that was special.

We thoroughly enjoyed the social atmosphere and the Christmas bunting and decorations.

It was a great evening.

Best wishes for the new year ladies, you deserve it.
