Excellent turnout for youth festival
More than 1,000 people descended on Blyth Market Place for Silx Teen Bar's annual youth festival last Thursday.
The young people and their families enjoyed face-painting, candy floss and balloon modelling, as well as having a go on the smoothie bike.
In addition, the mobile climbing wall that was erected in the market place all afternoon attracted a lot of interest.
Crowds were entertained throughout the free event, with music and dance performances from Timestep and Active Northumberland. Even Batman and his friends paid a visit.
The festival takes place every year as an opportunity for Silx and other organisations to showcase what they have to offer young people in Blyth.
Jackie Long, senior youth worker at Silx, said: “We are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year and it was fantastic to see such a wonderful turnout for our youth festival.
“The staff at Silx work incredibly hard all year round to make a difference to the young people of Blyth and having this event and seeing the support from the community is great.”
