Families set to walk the plank at pirate day

Families will set sail into a sea of fun at a county shopping centre this week.

Manor Walks in Cramlington will host its annual pirates’ day tomorrow (Friday, August 8), where visitors will be welcomed aboard the centre’s Pirate Family Fun Day, hosted at Cramlington Town Square in partnership with Concordia Leisure Centre, from 11am to 3pm.

The day-long event will offer photo opportunities with Captain Raggy Beard, a pirate fancy dress competition and a treasure hunt.

Manor Walks’ retailers, including Frankie & Benny’s, Asda, Dominos, M&S Simply Food and Vue, will be all hands on deck to help keep families entertained.

Organised in conjunction with Blyth Valley Arts & Leisure and Cramlington Town Council, other activities will include a play bus, face painting, a sand pit and fitness class demonstrations from the Concordia Leisure Centre team.

Bruno Coppola, general manager at Manor Walks, said: “Each year this event stands as a cornerstone in our summer calendar and it is wonderful to gather the community together for it.

“Last year’s event was a huge success and it’s an event which always attracts a great family crowd.”
