Fears for safety after prescription drugs stolen

A WARNING has been issued after prescription drugs were stolen from Morpeth.

At 1.13am on Sunday, April 7, a handbag was stolen from inside the Comrades Social Club on Lumsden Lane in Morpeth.

The handbag contained 100ml of liquid morphine and police are warning people that the liquid could be extremely dangerous if taken by someone it has not been prescribed for.

The liquid is in a brown glass bottle with a white lid.

The label, which has a pink teardrop on it, says morphine oral solution issued by Wellway Pharmacy.

Northumberland acting inspector Garry Neil said: “We are warning people that this drug could be potentially life threatening if taken by a person.

“Anyone who has any information or who finds the drug is asked to contact police immediately.”

Two women aged 20 have been arrested on suspicion of theft and are helping with enquiries.
