More than food for thought will be on offer in Cramlington this weekend.

Cramlington Foodie Festival, held for the first time last year, is returning to the Manor Walks shopping centre on Saturday.

It will take place in the arcade’s south mall from 9.30am to 3pm, offering visitors the chance to sample tasty treats from food producers from across the region.

Traders including Newcastle’s Le Mini Macaron, West Woodburn’s Northumberland Sausage Company, Alnwick’s Fruit Kitchen, Lottie McPhee’s Cupcakes, of Whitley Bay, and Rothbury’s Sandy Higson, alias the Mad Jam Woman, will be showcasing their wares.

Manor Walks retailers including Marks and Spencer Simply Food, butcher Dicksons and cake shop Curiously Wicked will also take part.

Staff from the Frankie and Benny’s and Prezzo restaurants in Manor Walks will stage cookery demonstrations, offering shoppers the chance to get involved.

Budding bakers will also have the chance to win a £100 gift card for M&S Simply Food in a scone competition.

Centre general manager Bruno Coppola said: “After the success of the first Cramlington Foodie Festival last year, we couldn’t wait to welcome it back for its second year.”

“Visitors will be able to enjoy food stalls, craft stalls and a range of activities and performances at the centre of their community.

“There really is something for everyone.

“It’s great to celebrate the quality of food produced right here in the North East by our eateries, retailers and some of the region’s best-known food suppliers.

“The foodie festival is the perfect opportunity for our loyal customers to taste something new and pick up some culinary tips just in time for the summer months.”
