First call-out for Seahouses' new lifeboat as it takes ambulance crew to Holy Island

At 12.59pm on Tuesday, May 25, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses all-weather lifeboat, to assist a North East Ambulance Service to reach a patient on Holy Island.
The causeway was closed by the tide with high water at 2.31pm.

Hide AdThe lifeboat was launched to await an ambulance crew who arrived at Seahouses at 1.35pm.
They were transported to Holy Island, where the local Coastguard Rescue Team took them to the patient’s location. The patient was treated and did not require hospitalisation.
The ambulance crew were then transported back to Seahouses and their ambulance vehicle.
This was the first call out for the new Shannon Class Lifeboat, after a very unusually quiet start to the year.

Hide AdCrew reported that the new vessel reached the island is approximately half the time of its recently retired Mersey-class predecessor and performed extremely well.
