Flower festival a major success

THANK you to everyone who supported the recently held flower festival held in the Central Methodist Church in Blyth.

The theme was a celebration of special events and anniversaries in the community and country. These included a tribute to the Queen for her 60 years as sovereign and head of state and an arrangement representing the grand cascade at the Alnwick Garden, now in its tenth year.

Rainbows are the youngest members of Girlguiding UK and this year they celebrate their 25th birthday.

The floral arrangement created by leaders of the Central Methodist Rainbow Unit therefore used the colours found in the rainbow.

While refreshments were enjoyed, music played on the church organ, drifted around the building.

Concerts were also performed by pupils from Bede Academy and the Backworth Colliery Band.

A team of church members worked hard to prepare this special event and were delighted that it had attracted such a wonderful response from the public.
