The former car park of the Railway Tavern on Station Road will be re-opened to allow residents of Bedlington Station and other users to benefit from additional car parking close to nearby local shops and the library.

Arch acquired the Railway Tavern at Bedlington Station last year and had secured the site whilst the demolition of the former public house took place.

It will now resurface and re-open the Railway Tavern car park for public use later this month following the discussions with the parish council.

The local authority has agreed to take over the running of the car park in the interim and the facility will be free to use.

Alex Wallace, chairman of East Bedlington Parish Council said: “This partnership approach between the parish council and Arch has provided a winning solution for traders and local residents of Bedlington Station, helping to address a need for additional car parking close to the local library and streets in the surrounding area.

“We are pleased to be able to respond to community wishes.”
