A much loved school in Cramlington is celebrated in a new book by a former pupil.
Parkside School was demolished earlier this year after serving the local community for almost a century.
Now author Brian Godfrey recalls this history in his new book, Cramlington Parkside School Remembered.
Brian, who attended the school in the 1950s and 60s, said: “The motivation for this small tribute came from a desire to commemorate the passing of an educational era in Cramlington.
“No one alive in Cramlington can remember a time when the school was not there.
“Many teachers and many more pupils have walked its corridors.”
Opened in 1909, the school was closed in 2008 and finally demolished in 2014.
The new book remembers the teachers and pupils who went to the school through old photographs, school logbooks and personal memories.
Brian added: “The book covers 90 or so years and it is not surprising that there is only one personal memory before 1930.”
