Two fun events in a Northumberland village last weekend were organised in aid of a patient transport charity.

A 80s and 90s disco took place at Stakeford and Bomarsund Social Welfare Centre on the Saturday evening and a family fun day was held in the area outside the centre on the Sunday.

The fun day included a teacups ride brought along by Richardson’s Amusements, a raffle with a range of donated prizes, face-painting, a cake stall, sand art, a tombola and a football tournament organised by Elite Bladez.

More than £1,100 has been raised so far for Daft as a Brush. It was chosen by one of the two organisers, Lesley Eadington, as the charity took her late uncle, Harry Wightman, to a Newcastle hospital and back home with an escort every day in January.

She has thanked Choppington Parish Council and the charity for their guidance and support.
