A fundraiser is holding a surprise reunion as a thank you for a tribute act dedicating his time to her cause.
Edwina Ifa is holding a special fundraising night in Newbiggin at the end of the month to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event is being headlined by Rob Lamberti, a top George Michael tribute act.
But after initially rejecting the offer, he agreed to perform after speaking to his father who said working at Alcan was the best time in his career.
Now Edwina is keen to hold a reunion as a thank you for helping her charity night.
Rob’s father Mario worked at the power station at Alcan in 1981 and 1982 before his career took him around the world, currently working in Germany.
However, he will join his son and head back to Newbiggin where Edwina is keen to surprise him with a reunion with former colleagues.
Edwina said: “If he is travelling all the way from Germany then I think the best I can do is hold a reunion for him.
“This fundraising event wasn’t going to take place had this young man’s father not worked here 30 years ago and still had such a kin to the place that he is prepared to travel thousands of miles to come back.”
The fundraising night will take place at Bank House Social Club, Newbiggin, on Saturday, December 27, from 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from The Barbers 2/Kids 1, Front Street, Newbiggin. For more information contact (01670) 857888.
Anyone who remembers Mario Lamberti and would like to be involved in the reunion should contact Edwina at the above address and phone number.
