A growing garage business has moved up a gear after securing funds for new facilities.

JB Motors, which is based in East Cramlington Industrial Estate, was established in 2002 to provide garage and mechanical services to customers throughout south east Northumberland.

The existing premises were purpose-built in 2014, and now, thanks to a funding package from Barclays, they have been expanded to include a new MOT centre, complete with a testing station and state-of-the-art equipment.

The business has now taken on an apprentice motor mechanic and fully qualified mechanic and MOT tester.

Owner John Batey said: “As an established business, I have offered a range of garage services to customers within Cramlington and the surrounding area for 13 years. I have built up a reputation for excellent quality and service, and I’m delighted that I can now provide a full MOT service for class 4, 5L and 7 vehicles, in addition to a full range of garage services for both the general public and trade customers.

“I am passionate about providing a great service for the local community and building the testing station has been a long-held ambition.

“It’s great that Barclays has supported my ambitions and been able to assist with the funding for the long-term growth plans of the business.”

Barclays business banking manager Jane Brown said: “John has a vast amount of experience and we look forward to seeing the business grow over the coming years.”
