A PLOT of land in Bedlington has housed a succession of businesses for years – doing car repairs, civil engineering and groundworks – but all without planning permission, it has been revealed.
Now mechanic Jason Knox intends to bring the empty yard in Jubilee Mews back into use as a garage and MoT centre, creating two jobs and possibly four more later on.
Five neighbours raised concerns about road safety and increased noise, but Northumberland County Council’s south east area planning Committee last week agreed to grant him planning consent for two years.
They were told the site had been a commercial area long before the housing estate was built.
Local member Coun Jeff Gobin said businesses had been there many years and he had never heard a complaint.
