A NEW outdoor space has been created at an Ashington school to enable children to grow their own fruit and veg.
The £4,000 project at Wansbeck First School was paid for by the town’s new B&Q store.
Staff from the North Seaton Industrial Estate store, opening on Saturday, spent three days creating the garden, pictured.
The school’s principal, Andy Roberts, said: “The area will be an asset for our school, turning an undeveloped patch into a multi-use resource that will be well used by our children and their parents.”
Store manager Matt Knibbs added: “We hope children will have lots of fun learning how to grow vegetables together in their new garden.”
