Gifts from youngsters heading out to Africa

A SCHOOL project has given children in Blyth an insight into the many problems faced by their opposite numbers in Ethiopia.

Working with the charity Link Ethiopia, sixth-formers at Blyth School Community College have been writing to pen pals in the African country and have donated 10p each a week to pay for boxes of education supplies.

Geography teacher Iain Taylor said: “Our awareness of the work carried out by charities like Link Ethiopia has helped to make us all realise that it is not the differences that matter, but the similarities which can bring us all closer together.”
