Two youngsters from south east Northumberland have taken on a sponsored run to raise funds for a charity close to their hearts.
Eleven-year-old Holly Archbold, and 12-year-old Emily Oates decided to organise a 5k run along the beach at Blyth at the weekend, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Holly’s mum Tracy Archbold said: “My daughter and niece decided themselves to do this after their great grandma died last year.
“They have trained three times a week since early summer and we are very proud of them for doing this.”
The girls have so far raised just under £180 from their run.
