Pupils and staff at a Cramlington school are celebrating being among the first to earn a new award.
Eastlea Primary School has been awarded the Platinum School Games Mark following five years of gold success.
It means they are one of only a few schools in Northumberland and the first in Cramlington to achieve the new award.
Staff at the school ensure a year-round commitment to sport including sports leaders organising games in the playground every day, a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and ensuring their pupils have two hours of quality PE every week.
They offer pupils opportunities to represent the school in School Games competitions, all pupils have attended fun sports festivals and have had several whole school sports-themed activity days this year.
Gill Smith, Cramlington Sports Partnership co-ordinator, said: “The platinum award can only be achieved after maintaining the Gold award for five years, so it is many years of dedication that have been recognised with this new award.
