GRANT: Support for brain injury

Headway Central Northumberland would like to express its sincere thanks to Ashington Town Council for the recent award of a £600 grant, which will enable the group to hold its monthly social activity meetings for the next 12 months.

The local Headway group, which currently meets at Hirst Welfare in Ashington on the last Thursday of each month, is part of the national charity Headway – The Brain Injury Association, and aims to support adults living in Ashington and the surrounding area who have experienced an acquired brain injury or neurological condition.

The monthly support meeting provides the opportunity for brain injury survivors to meet together and share their experiences, engage in activities, such as baking and crafts, and have refreshments and a chat.

Thanks to the support and generosity of Ashington Town Council, we are now able to plan a programme of future activities to support members and to establish the meetings as a regular feature of life in Ashington.

For more information, contact Alastair White, network support manager, on 0191 283 4562, or at

New members are welcome at the group and any support is very much appreciated.

Our next fundraising event is a fantastic Queen tribute night at The White House Unique Social Club in Ashington on November 13. We hope to see you there.
