There’s still time for environmental groups to bid for a share of £1.5m in funding – but they need to act fast.
The Postcode Local Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by the People’s Postcode Lottery, is open for applications until 5pm tomorrow (Friday).
Projects that could qualify include ecology, habitat, biodiversity and wider environmental work, with grants available from £500 to £20,000.
Blyth Valley MP Ronnie Campbell has urged groups to apply.
“Applying for this fund could just be the catalyst for getting your project off the ground,” he said.
“This is an exciting prospect for any local environmental groups that are in need of an extra funding boost and I’d urge them to get their applications in before the deadline.”
The scheme has already seen more than £142m raised for some 2,000 charities.
Trust manager Rebecca Whitley said: “We’d love to hear from the many grassroots initiatives that have exciting projects in the pipeline.”
