Community groups in south east Northumberland are being encouraged to apply for funding through a special scheme run by Northumberland County Council.
The council’s Community Chest scheme aims to support projects that benefit communities across the county and is open any voluntary, community or not-for-profit groups that are based in or serve Northumberland.
The scheme sets aside grant money for four different areas of the county – north, central, south east and west.
A large number of community groups across Northumberland have already benefited from the scheme this year but funding is still available for the south east.
Funding can be used for a range of purposes including organising events or the purchase of equipment. Grants of up to £10,000 are available and there is no minimum amount.
Coun David Ledger, deputy leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer support to community groups across Northumberland through the Community Chest scheme.
“Community groups are a real asset to Northumberland and we hope that with backing from the scheme, these hardworking groups will be given the opportunity to grow their activity and continue to support their areas.”
