Four groups in south east Northumberland whose projects have made a difference to the people living in their communities have been awarded £34,464 between them by the Big Lottery Fund.
The Northumberland Toy Library and Children’s Resource Centre in Ashington received £9,950, which they will use to buy laptops and workstations to provide sessions to parents and older people on how to use the internet.
South Northumberland Radio Group in Bedlington was awarded £6,251 to set up a community radio station and internet streaming.
Meanwhile, Northumberland Hospital Radio in Ashington received £8,303 for new computer equipment and software, and to upgrade the portable conditioning unit in its computer room.
Hadston House Youth and Community Projects Limited in Morpeth were given £9,960, it will use to run a breakfast club and a holiday activity programme for young people in the area.
