Growth plans for business
A Blyth-based business is planning a major expansion, creating more jobs and apprenticeships.
Tharsus Group, which is a leading equipment design and manufacture specialist, has doubled its staff headcount in recent years to more than 200 as the business has seen strong growth.
Now the company is looking to acquire further premises in Northumberland to keep pace with demand, increasing its manufacturing capacity.
And the move should lead to further jobs and apprenticeships, as well as investment in training.
Chief executive Brian Palmer said: “Our customers often require a game-changing product so it is vital we have the best facilities and the best people.
“Our existing factory is highly productive, which will be replicated through the acquisition of new premises. In addition, we’ve doubled our workforce to more than 200 in the last two years.
“Thankfully, the north east is able to provide people with great and wide ranging capabilities and so the vast majority of our staff are local.
“We’re also continuing to invest in apprenticeships and training, and hopefully providing a really good place for exceptional talent to grow.”
The company’s success follows a decision in 2009 to transform its business model from a traditional ‘metal bashing’ fabricator to a pioneer in a product route-to-market concept.
It now produces electro-mechanical and automated products for some of the UK’s most innovative businesses.
