Northumberland wildlife enthusiasts will soon find it easier to spot species of fauna, thanks to a new online guide.

A guide to the best wildlife experiences the UK has to offer will go live on Saturday.

For those who have ever wondered when and where to spot a wildlife species, but are unsure about how to go about it, the Wildlife Trusts’ seasonal guide to the UK’s top opportunities for such sightings offers answers to these and many more questions.

Steve Lowe, head of conservation at Northumberland Wildlife Trust, said: “Here are many, many ways in which you can get closer to the wild world, and this guide tells you how to do it.

“It’s a must-have for nature lovers and, better still, it’s free.

“The north east has so much to offer – from barn owls to glow-worms, newts to nightingales, and bluebells to butterflies, and this online guide will tell you exactly where to look for them, so circle the date on your calendar.”
