Health advice for new year

As the New Year approaches, people with long-term health conditions are being urged not to leave it too late to get their repeat prescriptions.

Many GP practices will have different opening hours, which can lead to problems getting routine prescriptions.

Dr Mike Prentice, medical director for Northumberland and Tyne and Wear area team of NHS England, said: “The last thing we want is for people to run out of their medication, which can cause anxiety and even lead to people becoming unwell over the holidays. Your local pharmacist can offer you free, qualified health advice at any time, no appointment is necessary.”
