Runners are being urged to sign up for a five-mile fundriasing fun run taking place this weekend.
The Golden Sands Holiday Park event is now in its second year of raising funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The seaside park, a stone’s throw from the tranquil Cresswell beach near Morpeth, is throwing down the challenge to residents and visitors alike to get their running shoes on in aid of the charity.
Taking place on Saturday, May 23, the run is open to serious and fun runners, and Golden Sands is encouraging as many entrants as possible to compete in fancy dress to add to the carnival atmosphere.
Event organiser Sandra Thompson, who owns the holiday park with husband Nigel, said: “We had such great support for our first St Oswald’s Fun Run last year that we’ve decided to make it an annual event.
“It’s a great opportunity to raise money for a really worthwhile cause and because it’s five miles, you don’t have to be a serious runner to get involved.
“We really enjoyed seeing people in fancy dress last year and we hope even more entrants will get dressed up to take part in this year’s run. Plus, it gives people who have never been to Golden Sands before the chance to have a look around the park.”
The run starts at 11am and you can register on the day at Golden Sands Holiday Park reception in Beach Road, Cresswell, from 9am. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress costumes.
Golden Sands is also staging a Bank Holiday Sunday Funday on May 24.
Starting at noon, there will be ‘It’s a Knockout’ games, giant zorb riding, music and various children’s rides.
