Plans for a residential institution home for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in Northumberland have been withdrawn.
ID had submitted a change of use application for Meadow View Farm, which is between Choppington and Bedlington.
But it was confirmed on the planning section of the county council’s website last Friday that the bid has been withdrawn from its system.
Station Terrace residents living close to the site, other local people, West Bedlington Parish Council and Bedlington Forum lodged objections.
As well as privacy issues – the property overlooks the back of the Station Terrace houses – they were worried for the welfare of the children given the proximity of a railway level crossing, the absence of a safe road crossing point and a lack of facilities for young people in the surrounding area.
British Transport Police and Network Rail also raised concerns in relation to the railway level crossing.
