Honour for fundraisers

A group of fundraisers have been praised for their sterling efforts to help save lives at sea.

Brenda Brown, Anne Main, Gill King RNLI community fundraising manager, Carol Robinson and Jean Thompson.

Newbiggin RNLI Lifeboat Station presented fundraising awards to Brenda Brown, Carol Robinson, Anne Main and Jean Thompson in recognition of their voluntary commitments.

The four fundraisers have between them over 140 years of voluntary service and were presented with their awards by Gill King, RNLI community fundraising manager, at a special ceremony.

Brenda was presented with a Bronze Badge for ten years of fundraising, Carol a framed certificate for 40 years of fundraising, Anne a Silver Badge for 40 years of fundraising, and Jean a Gold Badge for 50 years of fundraising.

Gill thanked all of the volunteers who work tirelessly to raise funds and applauded the valuable initiatives they do in support of this vital life saving service.

The Newbiggin RNLI Fundraisers are already planning a number of events for 2016 including the Easter Sunday Fayre at the boathouse from 1pm until 3pm and also Newbiggin Lifeboat Day on Sunday, July 31.
