Hundreds of Northumberland teens sign up for citizen service
More than 500 Northumberland teenagers are set for a life-changing summer experience after signing up for National Citizen Service (NCS).
The 15 to 17-year-olds will spend two weeks away from home before creating projects that will make a real difference to their communities.
The scheme, which runs through July and August, will firstly see the youngsters make new friends at an outdoor adventure camp, before taking a week to gain life skills, such as cooking and personal finance.
They will then put their new-found talents to good use, working in teams to deliver a community project.
Blyth Valley MP Ronnie Campbell said: “The NCS programme empowers our young people to make change in their communities and helps them build new skills and develop their futures.”
