Insight into a university

Students at a county high school have been given a taste of further education with a visit to Newcastle University.

The Year 10 pupils at Bedlingtonshire High School spent the day at the university to see what the facilities were like and to encourage them to consider further education when they complete their exams.

As part of the day the students received a tour of the campus, took part in some university style lectures and seminars and were able to eat their lunch with some undergraduates in the canteen.

Assistant headteacher Jamie Bell said: “The students found it extremely beneficial and whilst they weren’t sure about university before, having seen the facilities they definitely now want to study at Newcastle University.”
