Insurance to cover pillion riders on bikes is absurd

I agree wholeheartedly with David Cowton regarding motorcycle insurance (News Post Leader, April 3).

To require bikers to possess additional cover for their pillion rider is a logical absurdity.

For instance, it may be presumed by insurance companies that all motorbikes could have a side-car.

Given this possibility, and irrespective of the biker’s failure to possess a side-car, insurance will have to be paid for the possibility.
