A Blyth student has proved she’s in a class of her own by landing a top university spot at Cambridge.

Jade Stephenson, 18, who attends Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Shields, was overjoyed with her A-level results last week, sweeping the board with A* grades in biology, chemistry and maths, earning her a place at Cambridge University to study medicine.

The former Astley Community High School pupil even exceeded her AS-level scores of straight As.

Jade said: “I am thrilled with my grades and I am looking forward to going to Cambridge University in September.

“I couldn’t have achieved all that I have without the fantastic support from all of the staff at Queen Alex.

“I would also like to thank Professor Chris Day at Newcastle University who works with students like me to support us through the Cambridge University application process.”
