A SOUTH east Northumberland MP has thrown his support behind a campaign which recognises the work of speech and language therapists.
Wansbeck’s Ian Lavery will be attending the Ashington Street Fair in Station Road on Sunday to help raise awareness of the Giving Voice campaign, led by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Julie Carr, from Ashington, will also be holding a stall on the day in support of the campaign, as well as raising money for the North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA), which supports people with communication difficulties following a stroke.
The 22-year-old, who recently completed a four year speech and language therapy degree at Newcastle University, said: “I am delighted to have Mr Lavery’s support for the Giving Voice campaign and it is fantastic that he appreciates that speech and language therapy transforms lives.”
