An artist currently holding a solo exhibition is hosting a special session to discuss her work.
Katherine Renton will present a Meet the Artist session on Friday, April 8, as part of her exhibition at the Newbiggin Maritime Centre.
Starting at 7pm, the hour-long session in The Latimer Room will see her talk about the inspiration for her latest work, and show how her paintings of the Northumbrian coastline have developed.
Katherine, originally from Amble, said: “I welcome the opportunity to explain my work, as I do tend to shy away from painting the more recognisable, picturesque views of Northumberland.
“I prefer to paint man-made defensive structures such as Second World War tank traps and pillboxes.
“Such forms were erected for a very serious purpose, but now obsolete they are considered by many to be an eyesore or are simply taken for granted and ignored.”
The event is free of charge but booking is essential.
To reserve a place contact the Newbiggin Maritime Centre on (01670) 811951 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Katherine’s exhibition will run until June 10.
