Kite festival is set to make an Easter return

A popular kite festival is making a return to south east Northumberland in April.

Following the success of the 2014 event, the Newbiggin Kite Festival will return to the town’s Maritime Centre over the Easter weekend.

The event attracts international flyers such as Josh Mitcheson, who flies three kites at a time.

Also sharing the beach with Josh will be Fusion, Sky Artists the Pallas Family Flyers and members of North East Kite Flyers will be demonstrating colourful displays in the skies over bay with their kites.

As well as the display flying and an exhibition, other events will be taking place over the three days.

Workshops will be run for young children by Peter Heaney, of North East Kite Flyers, on the Friday, and pre-booking for the popular session is recommended.

An exhibition of kites will be on display in the Maritime Centre throughout the weekend.

Kites will be on sale and will range from the simple to the regular flyer, and of course the experts will be on hand to give help and advice.
