SHE is already the face of Northumberland.

Now Laura Hickey is aiming to become the face of the nation, after securing a place in the final of Miss England.

The Wooler lovely grabbed her spot after finishing in the top 15 in last week’s semi-final in Leicestershire.

Competing against 60 other hopefuls from around the country, the 22-year-old impressed the judges during three exciting rounds, including interview and eco fashion.

And now she is relishing the chance of winning the coveted Miss England title.

She said: “I am thrilled that I have qualified for a place in the Miss England grand final. The competition was very tough so to be awarded a place in the top 15 is amazing.

“I cant wait to meet all the other finalists later this month and now I am one step closer to winning the Miss England crown.

“However, even if I don’t win the experience so far has been amazing.”

The Miss England grand final starts in Birmingham on June 23 for a two-day boot camp where the 60 finalists will under go a fitness test with Regiment Fitness and participate in the Front Top Model round.

The winners of these two rounds will be to fast-tracked through to the top 15 at the grand final on June 26.

Following the Birmingham Boot Camp, the finalists will be transported to Leicester by National Express, to rehearse for the eco fashion round and Great Lengths hair show, which takes place on Monday, June 25 at 8pm at The Athena.

When asked what the judges should be looking for in a Miss England winner, Angie Beasley, director of Miss England said: “We are looking for a well-rounded individual who stands out from the crowd and possesses a natural beauty and flair.

“They must also be personable, eloquent and athletic, as well as being someone who will a role model for younger girls and make a great ambassador for their country.”

Angie added: “The standard of girls taking part in Miss England Final this year is very high so the judges are going to have a really difficult job deciding on the winner.”

The final show starts at 7pm on Tuesday, June 26, which will see one lucky girl crowned Miss England 2012 .

This year the Miss England competition is sponsored by ‘Mauritius – it’s a pleasure’, so the winner of the competition will not only receive an all expenses paid trip to represent England at Miss World, they will also be whisked off to the island of Mauritius where they will participate in the Mauritius Carnival and help to promote the Mauritius Shopping Fiesta, which begins at the end of June.
