Newbiggin lifeboat was launched to assist an angling boat which was unable to make the shore due to propulsion issues.

The incident happened on Friday at around 1.40pm and Newbiggin’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched from the beach with four volunteer crew on board.

After arriving on scene, a tow was secured to the stricken vessel and the boat and its two occupants were brought back to the safety of the River Wansbeck moorings.

With no further assistance required, the lifeboat returned to station.
