A county lifeboat service will be blessed this weekend ahead of next week’s lifeboat day.
The popular ‘blessing’ will take place at Newbiggin Lifeboat Station at 3pm on Sunday, July 26, undertaken by the Newbiggin lifeboat Chaplain Reverend Peter Sinclair.
The blessing is an established tradition in the lifeboat calender, with the service a preamble to next weekend’s Lifeboat Day.
The following Sunday, August 2, sees Newbiggin Lifeboat Day getting underway at 1.30pm with a variety of stalls and attractions in and around the lifeboat station.
There will be displays and demonstrations undertaken by the lifeboat subject to operational demands throughout the afternoon.
For those wishing to enjoy a selection of home made cakes and scones the boathouse will be serving these along with hot and cold drinks.
Throughout the afternoon live music will be performed on the adjacent sea front.
